Description[]

The Highway is a permanent location which cannot be accessed by the Global Map, but is only accessible through the Gas Station. The entrance to this place can be found to the right of the Lucky Wheel. The layout is very similar to that of Crooked Creek Farm and Blackport PD, as they are all like a dungeon. This place is a very good spot to farm Air Filters as there are tons of them here.

If the Settlement Minivan Act is not yet unlocked, then The Highway will be blocked off by an abandoned police cruiser. When the player does reach the act, they will be told to go to The Highway as part of the main storyline, as the police cruiser is now gone.

The Highway resets 48 hours after it is entered.

Features[]

There are several lootable cars and luggages around The Highway, however some of the cars when looted will sound an alarm, causing Crawlers to spawn in occasionally.

The Highway is also home to a stronger Fast Biter variant. This version will have 120 health, high armor, and high damage. It can be identified as a bald zombie in a blue overcoat. It shares the same skin as Genesis Laboratory Groaner.

If the player enters The Highway to do the main storyline, The Highway will be almost normal except for the fact that there is a large zombie named Smasher. It is advised to bring at least 1 firearm as Smasher has tons of health for any unassuming players. After the quest is completed, The Highway will then reset after 48 hours which will return it to its normal state.

Variations[]

The Highway has a rare variation, which is slightly easier than the normal version.

In this variation, there will be no sub-variations in all of the sections. It affects the entire map. You can tell if The Highway has this variant by showing no signs of dangerous Fast Biters. There will be 6 Fast Biters and 3 Floater Bloaters, alongside a Toxic Spitter at the side of the map.

However, players should not be off guard yet, as these zombies are different. They instead wander randomly around a select area. Even though this version is different, players should not be deterred yet as it is still fairly simple and easy. Only zombies in section 2 and 3 will have wandering zombies.

Sections[]

The Highway is split into about 5 sections, each with their own unique variations.

Section 1[]

This section can be identified by having police zombies in it as well as a lootable orange car within. This section has a few unknown variations. but is possible. This section often has police zombies like Zombie Officer and Hungry Chomper. The car alarm also always goes off, although Crawlers often do not spawn.

Section 2[]

This section can be identified by having a fallen tree besides the rail and a dead deer. This section most of the time has a Fast Biter standing between the tree and the deer. Sometimes, there is a variation where the deer is being eaten by a Rabid Wolf and the Fast Biter is not present. There is also another variant where there is a horde of Roaming Zombies clawing at a survivor standing on the back of a military truck. If you save the surivor by killing the zombies, the survivor will thank you and eventually run away. You get no reward for doing so though. There will also be a lootable stash in front of the deer.

Section 3[]

This area is inside the middle of the map. It can be recognized by a empty wooden chest that has seemingly exploded or something. There is also a dead Infected Bull. This is also where you must fight Smasher. There will be a total of 4 lootable stashes. 2 in a taxi and 1 in a red sedan. The engine of this red sedan can be looted for a Rusty Engine or Intact Engine. This same car is also the car that has the Spark Plugs. This section has 3 known variations so far.

Variation A[]

Variation A is identical to saving the survivor in Section 2. There will be a survivor standing in the back of the semi truck surrounded by Roaming Zombies. Saving them will reward nothing but a thank you.

Variation B[]

Variation B is when there are 3 "sleeping" Fast Biters located next to the red sedan. These are normal Fast Biters, not the strong variant. You can wake them up by simply walking over them.

Variation C[]

Variation C involves Raiders. There will be 2 Raiders looting the taxi and a couple of dead zombies. The raiders can be sneak attacked. They will likely have common melees like Baseball Bat or Cleaver. Similar to the Raiders at Crooked Creek Farm, they will drop torches if it's night and possibly their weapon.

Other[]

For those who want to save resources and armor hitpoints, there is a area in this section which you can perform the wall trick. Next to the red sedan should be an open semi-truck. You can use the open doors to wall trick any zombies easily.

Section 4[]

This section is a mainly bland section, usually only having about 3 Zombies. It is north of Section 3 and can be identified as it has a exit to the Global Map. Typically, there are only 3 Fast Biters here, usually which are the dangerous type. This section has no lootables, and is just mainly empty space.

Section 5[]

This section is surrounded by destroyed cars. To access this area, you must head right of Section 3, go down the road on the grass, around the barriers. There will likely be 2 Fast Biters of the strong variant here. There is a bunch of luggage which you can loot. There is also an oil spill to the top left corner of the area.
